The region impresses scenically with exciting mountain worlds from the Öztal Alps in the north over the famous Brenner Pass to the unmistakable mountain ranges of the Dolomites.

The Vinschgau is part of the region with the least rainfall, man-made irrigation channels from the streams in the mountains, called the Waalen, exclusively irrigate the mountain farms. In the high mountains of the Öztal Alps in the north, the world-famous mummy of “Ötzi” was discovered, which can be visited in nearby Bolzano. The Ortler group in the south offers spectacular hiking routes and endless sports possibilities!
Generations have already crossed the Brenner Pass to reach the sunny south! Below, the Wipptal valley stretches from medieval Sterzing to the bishop’s town of Brixen with many cultural highlights. In the wine villages all around, excellent wine is pressed and culinary delights are provided.

The Pustertal valley and the northern Dolomites extend east of Brixen via Bruneck, Taubloch and Innichen. Tauferer Tal and Ahrntal reach as far as South Tyrol’s northernmost point on the main Alpine ridge. The south beckons with Zwölferkofel, Drei Zinnen and Seekofel above Prager Wildsee with the exceptionally bizarre mountain ranges of the Dolomites.
The spa town of Merano, Überetsch and the Dolomites
The picturesque town of Merano offers a mild spa climate and almost subtropical vegetation, surrounded by pure mountain experiences! No wonder even Empress Sissi fell in love with the city. The town is the perfect starting point for Waal hikes and wine tastings, leisurely alpine rounds or summit hikes – in the Texel Group or in the Ulten Valley with its steep mountain flanks.
