Private Italy Group Tour for 20+ Travelers
Ten days across Tuscany, the Amalfi Coast and Rome. One private motorcoach, three properties with pools, nine group dinners, and one person you can reach at any hour from first inquiry to final transfer.
What Italiaplus does for groups of 20+
Italiaplus is an Italian destination management company that plans and operates private group tours for parties of 20+ travelers. A typical program runs nine nights across Tuscany, the Amalfi Coast and Rome, with private motorcoach transport, three properties with pools, daily breakfast and nine group dinners. Indicative per person pricing is confirmed at proposal stage.
The organizer's job
What makes a group of 20+ harder to plan than a small family vacation?
Scale changes the nature of the problem rather than just its size. A group of 20+ usually means several households with separate budgets, separate flight bookings and separate opinions, and one person holding all of it together.
The practical constraints arrive quickly. Few characterful properties can take eleven rooms at once, so availability drives the itinerary rather than the reverse. Roads on the Amalfi Coast restrict motorcoach size, which shapes how a day on the coast can realistically run. Popular sites release timed entry slots that suit small parties, not large ones.
A pace that suits an energetic twelve-year-old will exhaust a traveler in their eighties, and a program that ignores this produces a group that stops enjoying itself by day four. Every one of those constraints is solvable. None of them is solvable late.
Structure
Why does a ten day Italy trip work best across three regions?
Three nights in each of three regions is the most useful shape a ten-day program can take, because it is long enough to unpack and short enough to keep momentum. Countryside, coast and city each ask something different of the group, and the contrast is what people remember.
Three nights also means two full days in each place after arrival and departure are accounted for, which is the minimum that allows a real day trip without a forced march.
The sequence runs in either direction. Starting in Tuscany lets a long-haul group recover from the flight in a quiet place before facing the density of Rome. Starting in Rome suits groups whose flight routing or priorities point that way, and we build it that way just as often. The regions do not change. Only the order does, and we set it once your flights are fixed.
The three regions at a glance
| Region | Nights | Base | Day trips in the sample program | Signature evening |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Tuscany | 3 | Family-run agriturismo and wine estate near San Gimignano, with pool |
| Wine tasting on the estate and a vineyard picnic |
| Amalfi Coast | 3 | Family-run boutique villa above Sorrento, with terraces and sea views |
| Neapolitan pizza making with a pizzaiolo, and a garden barbecue |
| Rome | 3 | Four star boutique hotel in the historic center, with rooftop terrace |
| Cooking evening with a Roman home cook near the Pantheon |

Region one
Where should a group of 20+ stay in Tuscany?
Not in Florence. A group this size is better based in a smaller town or in the countryside within reach of it, and the difference in experience is considerable.
Our usual choice is a family-run agriturismo and working wine estate near San Gimignano, surrounded by vineyards and olive groves, with a pool, generous outdoor space and dinner served on the terrace. Rooms sit across two buildings a short walk apart, which is what makes eleven rooms possible at a property with genuine character.
Florence stays on the program as a day trip and as your arrival airport, along with Pisa. Siena and San Gimignano make one comfortable guided day, and Cinque Terre is reachable as a full day by motorcoach to La Spezia and onward by boat. Evenings are yours, and a village you can walk into beats a resort you cannot leave.
Region two
Is Sorrento the right base for the Amalfi Coast and Capri?
For a group of this size, yes, and the reason is logistics rather than preference. Sorrento sits within reach of Positano, Amalfi and Ravello by road, of Capri by boat, and of Pompeii on the way north to Rome, so one base covers everything a group wants from this coast without repacking.
Properties inside the coastal villages themselves rarely hold eleven rooms, and their access roads defeat larger vehicles. We base groups in a family-run boutique villa in a quiet panoramic position above Sorrento, with terraces, garden and views over the bay, a short transfer from the harbor and the historic center.
Capri is reached by private boat from the property with a swimming stop on the way, which avoids the line for the public ferry and lets the group set its own schedule for the day.
Region three
How much of Rome can a group cover in three nights?
Comfortably more than most groups expect, provided the days are sequenced rather than crammed. We base groups in a four-star boutique hotel in the historic center, within walking distance of Campo de' Fiori, Piazza Navona and Trastevere, with an internal garden and a rooftop terrace for the end of the day.
Because almost everything is walkable from there, the motorcoach is not needed in Rome at all, which removes the slowest part of a city day.
The program includes a guided walking tour of the center and a guided visit to the Vatican Museums and St Peter's Basilica with entrance and timed fast-track entry included. We usually place the Vatican in the evening, when the crowds have thinned and a group of 20+ can actually move through the rooms. Mornings stay free, and the last evening is a cooking evening near the Pantheon.
Day by day
What does a ten-day program actually look like?
This is a program we have built and run, shown here Tuscany first. Dates, order and content all move to suit your group. Nine nights, ten touring days, two travel days at either end.
Every program is built around the group traveling, so the days below are a starting point rather than a fixed package. Individual visits can be substituted, for example Orvieto in place of Assisi on the drive south. Days can also be lightened by reducing the number of guided visits, which often suits a group spanning several generations.
-
Day 1
Arrival and your Tuscan home for three nights
Private transfer from Florence or Pisa airport to the estate near San Gimignano. Check in, time to settle, then a welcome buffet on the terrace with local wines and regional dishes as the light goes.
-
Day 2
Two medieval towns in one day
A guided visit to Siena, including the Piazza del Campo and the cathedral, then independent time in San Gimignano among its towers. Back at the estate, a tasting of Tuscan wines paired with local food.
-
Day 3
Five villages on the Ligurian coast
A full day to the Cinque Terre. Motorcoach to La Spezia, then by boat along the coast to Vernazza and on to Monterosso al Mare, with free time in both, and the train back to meet the motorcoach. A vineyard picnic in the evening.
-
Day 4
South through Umbria to the coast
Check out and the drive south through Umbria, with a lunchtime stop in a hilltop town, either Orvieto on its volcanic rock or Assisi. Arrival above Sorrento in the afternoon, and a first dinner of homemade pasta prepared by the family who run the villa.
-
Day 5
The coast that stops you in your tracks
A guided day along the Amalfi Coast, visiting two of Positano, Amalfi, Ravello and Sorrento, with time to wander. In the evening, a Neapolitan pizza making session with a professional pizzaiolo, and live music on the terrace.
-
Day 6
An island like no other
Two private boats collect the group for a panoramic tour around Capri with a swimming stop, then free time on the island for lunch and shopping at your own pace. A barbecue dinner in the garden on your return.
-
Day 7
Buried in 79 AD, and then Rome
A guided visit to Pompeii, split into smaller groups with two guides so everyone can hear and see, with entrance included. Free time for lunch, then north to Rome and check in. Dinner at a neighborhood trattoria.
-
Day 8
The Eternal City, explored properly
A morning at leisure, then a two-hour guided walk through the historic center. In the evening, a guided visit to the Vatican Museums and St Peter's Basilica with timed entry included, followed by dinner nearby.
-
Day 9
Your Rome, and a Roman kitchen
The day is yours for the streets, the piazzas and the shops. In the late afternoon, a private cooking evening near the Pantheon with a Roman home cook: two recipes, then dinner of what you have made, with wine.
-
Day 10
Arrivederci, Rome
Breakfast, check out, and private transfers to the airport, timed to your flights.

Budget
How much does an Italy group tour for 20+ people cost per person?
We build every program to a stated per person budget for land arrangements, and we will tell you at the first conversation whether your figure and your wishes fit together.
Two things move the number. Group size is the main one, because motorcoaches, guides and private boats cost the same whether 18 or 22 people use them, so the per person figure rises as the group gets smaller. Room configuration is the other: single occupancy carries a supplement, while triple rooms can bring the average down. Tell us both and we will price it precisely rather than approximately.
A deposit of 30 percent confirms the booking and secures the properties. The balance falls due before departure, on a schedule set out in your proposal. Several families can be invoiced separately for their own share.
All quotes are based on the stated group size and travel period and remain subject to availability and market fluctuation until final booking.

What changes as the group size changes
| Group size | What changes | What stays the same |
|---|---|---|
| 20 to 25 travelers | The sweet spot. One motorcoach, one set of guides, and properties that can be taken almost in their entirety | Per person pricing is at its most efficient in this band |
| Below 20 | Fixed costs spread across fewer people, so the per person figure rises. Motorcoach size can often be reduced | The program itself does not need to change |
| Above 25 | Guide ratios require splitting into sub-groups at some sites, and motorcoach access on the Amalfi Coast needs re-checking | Still entirely feasible, with more lead time |
| Numbers not yet final | We hold rooms on option where the properties allow it, and confirm in stages | Pricing is reissued at each confirmed number, not estimated |

Local decisions
Why do groups of this size need an Italy specialist?
Because the decisions that make or break a group program are local, and most are invisible from a distance. A few examples from how we build these trips.
-
Motorcoach use is scoped, not assumed
We cost the motorcoach for the days it is genuinely needed, six on a program like this, and drop it in Rome where the center is walkable. A real saving, not a compromise.
-
Vehicle size is checked against the road
The Amalfi Coast restricts larger motorcoaches, so the size of the group determines how a coastal day can actually run, and it is confirmed before it is promised.
-
Guides are matched to numbers
At Pompeii we use two guides and split the group, so nobody spends two hours straining to hear from the back of a crowd.
-
Timed entry is sequenced
Group slots at the Vatican Museums are limited and worth placing in the evening, when a group can move at its own pace.
-
One contact, reachable
You get a full program document with addresses, contacts and driver details, and one person at Italiaplus who knows your group and answers the phone during the trip.
Process
How does the inquiry process work?
-
1
You tell us the shape of the trip
Group size and composition, your travel window, how many nights, the regions you have in mind, and your per person budget for land arrangements. Rough numbers are fine at this stage.
-
2
We talk it through
A short video call to test the structure against what is actually available, and to be honest with you about anything that will not work.
-
3
You receive a proposal
A day-by-day program with what is included, what is not, and a per person price based on your confirmed group size and rooming.
-
4
We hold and confirm
Properties hold rooms on option for a limited window, so we tell you the deadline in writing. A deposit of 30% confirms the booking, and several families can be invoiced separately. In the case of multiple families each can be invoiced separately if requested.
-
5
We run it
You receive the full program document before departure, and one named contact throughout the trip.
Inquire
Ready to put dates against your group?
Tell us roughly what you have in mind and we will come back with a structure, an honest view of what is possible, and a per person figure. If your budget and your wishes do not meet, we will say so at the first conversation.
We reply to every inquiry personally. Your details are used to prepare your proposal and are not shared with anyone outside Italiaplus.
FAQ
What else do organizers ask before they book?
Can you plan an Italy trip for 20+ people within about USD 4,000 per person for land arrangements?
Usually yes, for a nine-night program of this shape with double occupancy. Whether it fits depends on your group size, your rooming, the season and how many meals and guided visits you want included. We will tell you honestly at the first conversation if your figure and your wishes do not meet, rather than discovering it in a proposal.
How much does the price change if our group is smaller than 20?
It rises per person. Motorcoaches, guides, private boats and venue hire cost the same whether 18 or 22 people share them, so the fixed portion spreads across fewer travelers. We reissue pricing at each confirmed number rather than working from an estimate, and we can often reduce motorcoach size to recover part of the difference.
Is a private motorcoach or train travel better for a group of 20+?
Private motorcoach, for this itinerary. Siena, San Gimignano and the Amalfi Coast towns are poorly served by rail, and moving 20+ people with luggage through stations in June heat costs more in comfort than it saves in euros. We do use the train where it is genuinely the better tool, for example the return leg from the Cinque Terre.
Can a group of 20+ travel the Amalfi Coast by private motorcoach?
Yes, with the right vehicle. The coast road restricts larger motorcoaches, so the vehicle is matched to the group size and the route before anything is promised, and the coastal day is built around what the road actually allows. This is one of the details we confirm at proposal stage rather than on the day.
Where should a large group stay in Tuscany?
In a smaller town or in the countryside within reach of Florence, rather than in Florence itself. Our usual base is a family-run agriturismo and wine estate near San Gimignano with a pool and generous outdoor space. Florence stays on the program as a day trip and as your arrival airport, along with Pisa.
Do the properties have pools?
Pools matter in June and we treat them as a requirement, not a bonus. The Tuscany and Amalfi Coast bases we use have a pool and outdoor space for the group's own use. In Rome the equivalent is a garden and a rooftop terrace, since a central hotel with a pool means giving up the location that makes the city walkable.
Can we book single rooms, and what does that do to the price?
Yes. Single occupancy carries a supplement, because the per person price assumes twin or double sharing. Triple rooms are available at some properties and can bring the average down. Tell us the rooming you want, including any single rooms, and the proposal will price it exactly rather than approximately.
Can several families pay separately?
Yes. We can issue separate invoices to several households for their own share of one group booking, which removes the job of collecting money from the person organizing the trip. Tell us how many parties will be paying and we will set the invoicing up that way from the start.
What deposit is required, and when is the balance due?
A deposit of 30 percent confirms the booking and secures the properties. The balance falls due before departure on a schedule set out in your proposal, which reflects the terms of the individual properties and suppliers. Cancellation terms are provided in writing with the proposal and vary by property and by how close to travel the change falls.
What happens if our group size changes after we book?
It is a normal part of planning a group of this size and we build for it. Where a property allows it, we hold additional rooms on option so a household that is undecided can join later, and we tell you the deadline for that decision in writing. Changes affect the per person price, so we reissue it at each confirmed number.
Do we need a full-time tour guide, or is a driver plus local guides enough?
For a private group on this itinerary, a driver plus expert local guides at each site is usually the better arrangement. Local guides know their own site properly, and you are not paying for a guide on free days. You also receive a full program document with contacts and addresses, and one named contact at Italiaplus throughout.
Do you arrange our international flights?
No. Groups book their own international flights, which usually suits a group spread across several households and departure cities. We arrange everything on the ground from the moment you land, including private airport transfers, and we set the order of the regions once your flights are fixed.
