Urbino is in the very north of the region and offers several top-class destinations. Particularly worth seeing are the “Palazzo Ducale” and the National Gallery in the provincial capital of Urbino. The fortress “San Leo” and the “Palazzo of Urbania” in the nearby Montefeltro attract many visitors. Monte San Bartolo on the coast is the scenic highlight of the province.
The province of Ancona follows in the south. The provincial capital of the same name is the economic hub of the region and an important port on the Adriatic. In addition, the region’s most beautiful stretches of coastline extend to the foot of Monte Conero on the Riviera del Conero. It captivates with small sandy bays in front of steep coastal cliffs and tranquil villages. In the hinterland, hidden treasures await you, such as the “Holy House” of Loreto and the “Grotte di Frasassi”, the largest accessible cave system in Italy.
The Province of Macerata
Macerata is the second largest province of the Marche with a small but beautiful coastline. In the hinterland, there are wonderful hilly landscapes, dotted with pretty villages such as the provincial capital Macerata, Recanati and Camerino with their tranquil small-town charm.
The countryside is not only an excellent destination for peace seekers but also delights with first-class wine-growing areas and excellent wines.

The two southernmost provinces offer beautiful coastal resorts with endless sandy beaches and towns worth visiting that are full of art and culture. The provincial capital Ascoli Piceno is the undisputed highlight of the province and captivates with its magnificent old town, beautiful squares, museums and churches. The excellent cuisine and first-class red wines make gourmets’ hearts beat faster! In the hinterland, the mountains of Monte Sibillini rise to 2,500 m high and are suitable for hiking.
