  • Arezzo
  • Siena
  • Grosseto

With its unique cultural landscape inland, the abundance of art and culture in picturesque cities and extensive coastal sections, it offers the right thing for every holidaymaker!

Like hardly any other region in the world, enchanting Tuscany in central Italy stands for enjoyment and joie de vivre. The list of culinary delicacies is endless and makes connoisseurs’ hearts beat faster! The mild Mediterranean climate, favoured by the Tyrrhenian Sea, makes Tuscany one of the best wine-growing regions in Italy.

In cities like Florence, Arezzo, Pisa, Siena, Lucca, Pienza, Montepulciano, Volterra and Livorno art lovers get their money’s worth. Here you will find the most important works of art in the world. The fairytale cultural landscapes, such as the wine paradise Chianti, the Maremma and the Crete Senesi make Tuscany a yearning destination for many holidaymakers.

Florence is the “cradle of the Renaissance” and with its countless museums, including the world-famous Uffizi, churches and beautiful squares a must for every Tuscan traveller! The Leaning Tower of Pisa is the landmark of the region and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Tuscany. In the picturesque town of Anchiano you can visit the birthplace of the universal genius Leonardo da Vinci and follow the traces of the Etruscans who settled in Tuscany as early as 800 BC in Livorno.

The “typical Tuscany” can be experienced in Chianti, which stretches between Florence and Siena. Small fortified villages on hilltops, endless vineyards and vines lined with cypress avenues and picturesquely situated farmhouses lend this region its special fascination. The famous red wine “Chianti” is produced here and can be tasted in many places.

In the northwest, Tuscany is bordered by the Apuan Alps, which look as if they are covered with snow all year round. The famous Carrara marble is broken here. In addition, one of the most beautiful beach areas of the Mediterranean extends along the coast of Versilia. Further south along the coast, the beautiful islands of the Tuscan archipelago, to which Elba and Giglio belong, are off the coast. In the north-east you can discover the wonderfully wild Casentino with its dense chestnut forests and picturesque villages that have grown out of castles.

The southernmost part of Tuscany is characterized by the landscapes of the Maremma, which stretched as far as the sea. The nature and culture paradise inspires with miles of sandy beaches, lined with shady pine groves, lively medieval villages, historical buildings and first-class works of art. Here you can go hiking and cycling, or relax in one of the numerous thermal resorts.

Tuscan cuisine is simple and relies above all on the freshness and quality of its regional products. The excellent olive oil, meat, fish, seafood and especially vegetables are on the menu. Fresh fruit, cheese such as the popular Pecorino cheese, and of course the first-class wines of the region, above all the “Chianti” and the “Montepulciano”, make Tuscany a real gourmet paradise! The region is rich in excellent porcini mushrooms (funghi porcini), some of which are more expensive than a good piece of meat. The popular truffle grows in the San Miniato area.
