The province Piacenza lies in the western part of the region and touches the regions of Lombardy, Liguria and the Piedmont. The “land of castles” is characterized by craggy foothills, green vineyards, old church towers and impressive fortresses. The eponymous capital of the region lies near the confluence of the Po and the Trebbia in the Lombard plain and is an important industrial and trading centre.

The province Parma lies east of Piacenza and offers a large variety of nature, history and culinary tradition. It lies between the Po river in the north and the Apennines in the south and the plains are crossed by numerous lakes. A stroll through the streets of the capital Parma is like walking through a delicatessen store – a paradise for gourmets!

Going east, the province Reggio Emilia follows. It is a region full of landmarks and historical treasures and offers beautiful landscapes and hiking routes. The plains of this area are crossed by cultivated areas, woods, lakes and castles. The wines of the Reggio Emilia are very popular. The provinces Modena, Bologna & Ferrara

The province Modena lies in the heart of the region. It is the home to many culinary delicacies and of the popular Italian sports cars such as Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati or Ducati! The hilly landscapes are full of castles, fortresses and picturesque villages, and is one of the most beautiful areas in Italy. The capital Modena is characterized by the Romanesque, the Gothic and the Renaissance period and is listed as UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The province Bologna is said to be the link between Northern Italy and the Southern Italian peninsula. The diverse landscapes offer a beautiful setting for outdoor activities and the cities and villages are full of art and history. The cuisine of the capital Bologna offers many culinary highlights – Mortadella, Tortellini and the famous Bolognese Sauce. It is home to the oldest university of Europe!
