The provinces Verona & Vicenza

Starting in the west, the province Verona is the most visited in Venetia. The landscapes stretch from the mountain massif of the Monte Baldo over the famous Gardasee to the hilly vineyards of Valpolicella. The beautiful provincial capital Verona declared as UNESCO World Heritage and dazzles with numerous impressing monuments and buildings. Here, the romance of Romeo & Juliet began, and the annually unique opera festival in the open air takes place in the Roman Arena and attracts thousands of visitors.

The province Vicenza borders in the north of Verona and dazzles with the Renaissance architecture of the famous architect Andrea Pallado, known as Palladio. Not only the cities are characterized by his buildings, but also the famous and prestigious Venetian villas which are spread over the whole region. The landscape is characterized by the Monti Berici in the south and the Monte Grappa near Bassano del Grappa, the city of the popular Grappa. The capital Vicenza was declared as UNESCO World Heritage in 1994, because of the harmony in the urban planning and architecture.

The provinces Belluno, Treviso and Padua

The province Belluno is characterized by the mountain massif of the Dolomites and is the most mountainious area of Venetia. In the mountain village Cortina d’Ampezzo, you can do hiking trips in the summertime with pleasant temperature, or cableway rides to the high mountains up to 3,000m altitude. Small and beautiful lakes, such as the Lago di Misurina or the Lago Santa Croce round off the picturesque mountain idyll.

The province Treviso borders in the southwest of Belluno and its capital Treviso is home to many global companies like Benetton, Stefanel and Replay. The old town is crossed by canals and numerous Osterias invite one to enjoy Venetian delicacies. North of Treviso, you can visit numerous Venetian villas, such as the famous Villa Barbaro and the spectacular Prosecco-region with its endless vineyards.

If you go further south, you will reach the province Padua, which attracts with the luminous green Euganei hills with numerous thermal villages, like the popular Albano Terme. Its bathing traditions reach back to the Roman times! The vibrant university city Padua is the capital of the province and dazzles with its art and history treasures and is one of the most important pilgrimage sites in Italy.

The provinces Venice and Rovigo

The province Venice with its extended lagoons is the centre of the region. The unique lagoon city Venice spreads over 118 islands and attracts with historical monuments and buildings and world-class art. The bathing resorts Lido di Jesolo, Cáorle and Bibione are the most beautiful of Venetia. Along the Brenta canal you can visit prestigious Venetian villlags and the vibrant city Protogruaro with the Roman excavation site Concordia Sagittaria.

The province Rovigo borders in the south and is half land and half ocean. The extended area is characterized by the Po delta: The most important river of Italy, the Po, divides into six arms and flows into the sea. At the coastline, the village Rosolina Mare plays a significant role for tourists, especially the small island Isola Albarella offshore. The provincial capital Rovigo attracts with an enchanting old town and one of the best picture galleries in Italy.
